JUST ADDED! A Tale of Two Cities

Experience the story of Shreveport/Bossier City and learn about unique places and people who made indelible marks on the world of art, music, politics, and sports. We’ll visit The Municipal Auditorium, home of “The Louisiana Hayride” that gave birth to superstars like Elvis, Hank Williams, George Jones, and Johnny Cash. You’ll hear the incredible story of Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter—King of the Twelve-string. And let’s talk about art!  Shreveport is home to the world’s largest publicly funded mural and the world-class R. W. Norton Art Gallery and Gardens. Many heroes of sport hail from the area, including NFL quarterbacks Terry Bradshaw and Dak Prescott, golf champions Hal Sutton and David Toms, and Celtics basketball legend Robert Parish. We’ll share our history, too, including the story of how Bonnie and Clyde were brought to justice, and tales about powerful political characters like Gov. Huey P. Long and Gov. Jimmie Davis. Our story is incredible, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

A Taste of Northwest Louisiana

Join us for a special taste of Northwest Louisiana! We’ll visit and tour the American Rose Center (headquarters of the American Rose Society), which features over 20,000 rose bushes; Gator and Friends, an exotic petting zoo and adventure park; and the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, an art deco architectural gemstone that houses local, regional, and state history and artifacts. We will end the tour with a unique state fair-inspired menu for lunch at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, which will be in full fair swing during your visit.

East Bank District Pub Crawl & Art

Start your adventure with a specialty coffee cocktail or a sparkling mimosa at Bossier City’s Sugar Sheaux and hear how the East Bank district got its start. Visit the Bossier Arts Council that was created in 1980 through a joint effort of local artists and the city. Our next stop will be at Bossier City’s first craft brewery, Flying Heart Brewery and Pub, which featured brick-oven pizza, limited edition seasonal beers, and a beautiful outdoor beer garden.

Experience It All Downtown

Is that Elvis I see? Have fun and experience it all in downtown Shreveport with guide Liz Swaine, who heads up the Shreveport Downtown Development Authority. Liz will take you on a history-filled tour of downtown that will include art, architecture, a bit of scandal (!), shopping, wine, donuts … and more food. You will experience it all and leave with stories to tell. (You might also leave with photographs, but remember: What happens in downtown Shreveport stays in downtown Shreveport.)

Wicked Shreveport

Who doesn’t want to know about Wicked Shreveport? Author and history maven Dr. Cheryl White will share tawdry tales of Shreveport’s infamous madam, dueling mayors, and the Yellow Jack that killed 25% of Shreveport’s population and then came back for more. Together we will delve into the rougher, rowdier, seedier side of life in this entertaining and oh-so memorable tour! Lunch will be served.
